some people in this world are just meant to be crazy....

nadine is one of those people...i think sometimes nadine doesnt include enough of her stories about her life in australia and how she is adjusting...the ones that show that she is special...so i am going to fill yall in...
Last week, the night before Paul and Tim got here, Nadine and I decided to go to the beach to look at the stars. It was about 10:30. So we sat on the rocks by the beach and looked at the stars for like an hour, and then we decided to head back to the apartments. So as we were getting on the bus, she looked at her bus ticket and said "I'm not sure this is going to work" (she thought she might have bent it too much). Well we got on the bus anyways, and she stuck her ticket in the green machine that usuallly sucks the ticket down and then spits it right back up. Her ticket got sucked down, but it didn't ever come back up. So nadine got a little confused, and after the bus started moving she told the bus driver that the green machine ate her ticket. He told her that at the next stop he would have to reset the green machine, and so at the next stop her reset the green machine. The little green machine still wouldnt give nadine her ticket back, so the bus driver started kicking the machine. In the mean time, there were about 10 Australian college students sitting at the back of the bus asking what was going on. So the bus driver told them that Nadine got her ticket stuck. All the Aussies began giving us a hard time, because, after all, we are americans (and we can't even use the ticket machine in the bus properly). And then, to make it more embarrassing, the bus driver told us he had to shut down the bus to see if he could get the ticket to come out. So he shut down the bus....all the lights went off...the engine went off...and Nadine and I are just sitting there listening to the Australians give her a hard time (by the way they called her the girl in the yellow sweater)....Well the stupid machine still didn't give Nadine her ticket back...so then the bus driver was like sorry guys...I have to call dispatch so we are going to be sitting here for about 5 minutes. The bus driver called dispatch and talked to them for a while, and eventually he asked nadine where she was getting off. She told him that she was getting off at the main bus stop on that route (which is where we live, aka Bondi Junction). So the bus started going again, and all the Australian students continued to give us a hard time until they got off the bus at the stop before ours (even after they got off the bus they were still yelling stuff at us, not mean stuff, just giving us a hard time). So after we got to our stop, the driver told us that we had to wait for the service guy. Well Nadine and I brilliantly decided to get off the bus to wait for the service guy, and outside of the bus about 15 construction workers were on their break. By this point, it was about 11:45 at night, and the construction workers started hooting and hollering at us as we were standing outside of the bus. So our bus driver decides to yell that one of us is his wife...and blah blah blah. So anyways, finally the service guy came, and he took the whole green machine apart and gave nadine her ticket back. We had to walk by the construction guys to get back to our apartment complex, and they still made as much noise as possible when we walked by them. And why did all of this happen? Because Nadine bent her ticket. Basically the moral of the story is....DON'T TAKE THE BUS WITH NADINE!!! She holds up the bus, she gets Australians to make fun of you, and she gets construction workers to hit on you. Nadine, if you think your bus ticket is too bent....IT IS!!!

Laura Mathisen

Sydney is like San Diego

yeah. really pretty. nice people. good food (for the most part. there was this one place we ate at today that used meat loaf for their hamburger patties. gnarly.) but yeah, sydney is an awesome, awesome city. the downtown area is super pretty, and the beaches are just as gorgeous.

one of the most different things about sydney is that everything is so damn expensive. a beer is $8. a SMALL mixed drink is anywhere from $6-$15. tim and i payed $14 each for two mediocre grateful deads the other night. a regular dinner routinely costs $20 or more. everything is very clean and very nice, but you pay for it.

here's another thing. they actually have a public transportation system that works. in san diego, the buses are for bums, and there is no subway system.

more.

people drive on the wrong side of the road. and they drive small cars. and they have two buttons on the toilets, one using half the amount of normal water. they're very energy conscious.

no conclusion here. i'm done.

so.....

bye.

Fuck...I lost the last post! (i'm not supposed to use the "F" word in Nadine's blog -sorry Nadine

I lost the last blog I was trying to post. I'm too tired to re-write and it wasn't my best work. So, Nadine is spending the week with Paul and Tim, both delightful young men. She is currently reading and wishes the best for everyone back home.

Peace Out.

Jenna

P.S. Again, Nadine, I'm sorry I used the "F" word.

The Font Color of This Blog is the Color of Laura's Man Drink

It's Jenna again. I love Nadine's blog. But now she's trying to be bossy and telling me to mention events of Laura's birthday. She's just too lazy to type about it herself. In fact, she is lying on the floor right now.

I've discovered something new about Nadine. She has a very sensitive bum. I urge everyone to touch it. I'm trying to desensitise it, so I really do need all the help I can get. I think if people grab her ass enough, she'll get used to it and won't giggle and jump like she does now. It's not a firm grab, just a light one, preferably toward the bottom of her rear. I am aware that I probably sound like a total weirdo now, but you have to understand how hilarious Nadine's reaction is to an innocent grab at her bum.

Okay, so here I go at mentioning Laura's birthday. It was on Tuesday, May 2nd. It was great. The end.

No really though we had a good time. Ashley bought Laura a man made of liquour. He's quite sexy (and a very nice bum) but he doesn't taste very good. Laura had an excellent time and we finally got her a little tipsy. We had a lovely bbq at the beach and then set out for Scruffy Murphy's. It was a great night of dancing and fun with friends. I have video recordings of Laura in the cab ride home; it's quite funny. Laura was just so chatty with the cab driver John. She even offered to buy him a purple necklace at Paddy's Market.

Well I'm at a loss of words right now. Nadine's friend's Paul and Tim will be arriving in Sydney tomorrow morning. I can't wait to meet Tim....I LOVE Tim! Actually, I've never met Tim, but I believe the first words that ever came out of my mouth to him over the phone were "Tim, I love you!"

If I can think of any other weird quirks Nadine has I'll be sure to post them. Until then I will entertain myself by watching Nadine react to her butt being grabbed.

Cheers,

Jenna
